Falling asleep at work? POW, get some energy!

woman-bored-in-an-office

If your work day consists of mainly one position, sitting, then this is for you. You may not know this, but I too used to be one, a cubicle sitter. My day would consist of waking up, driving to work, grabbing a coffee and plopping my butt down in a saggy chair in front of a computer screen (it’s probably a similar position you’re in right now). Then the rest of my day would consist of getting up a couple of times for boring meetings and maybe lunch. A lot of times lunch wasn’t even on my radar, and then the dreaded 3pm nap time bug would kick in. The last two hours of work just dragged and dragged. This sure sounds familiar doesn’t it? Keep reading.
My upper back would be fatigued from having my head drooping forward, my lower back would ache from slouching in the chair and after years of this endless cycle, it started to take a toll on my body. I thought, “Hey, what can I do to change this? I need more energy, I need less stress and I want my body to stop aching.” So I did a 180 and changed careers. From technology to health and fitness. Now I embrace technology and combine this with my health and fitness knowledge to improve people’s health, just like yours.

Of course it isn’t feasible for all of us to change careers and find jobs that require more movement, offer less stress and no set eating time. But what if I could teach you easy movements which will increase your energy, make your time more productive, so you can get more done, which means you are able to leave work on time.

Ok, get ready; here are 3 things you can do right now to improve energy, lower stress and wake you up:

  1. Pretend you have an orange in both your hands and squeeze as hard as you can to make orange juice ..
  2. Breathe out while squeezing your hands until all the air is gone, relax the hands and take a long deep breath in through the nose.
  3. Repeat this 6 times and stand up.

In less than one minute, you have done something for yourself to change your mood. This is a simple movement which you just learned. Pass it on to one person right now to improve their day!
